State Bank of India popular for its name
SBI is the largest Indian Bank. It is headquartered at Mumbai,
Maharashtra. SBI was founded in 1806 as Bank of Calcutta which was oldest bank
in Indian subcontinent. Bank of Calcutta, Bank of Bombay and Bank of Madras
were merged and became Imperial Bank of India (IBI). In 1955, IBI was
nationalized by GoI and termed it as State Bank of India. SBI has made a place
in the world’s largest banks list.
As on March 2012, it consists of 14196
branches including 173 offices in 37 foreign countries across the globe. It has
